Nominating Committee’s Slate of Candidates
Chief Stephen R. Adkins is a graduate of Bacone Jr. College, Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he received his associate arts degree, and Virginia Commonwealth University where he received his B.S. in Business Administration. He was awarded an honorary master’s degree in Humane Letters from Bacone College on May 05, 2007. He serves as chief and tribal administrator for the Chickahominy Indian Tribe. Chief Adkins retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia as the Chief Deputy Director of the Department of Human Resource Management. Additionally, he retired from DuPont in 2006 after 40 years of service.
Chief Adkins currently serves on the Board of Directors of Argent Credit Union. Prior to joining the Board in 1998, he served on its Supervisory Committee for 16 years. He has served as a member of the Jamestown 400th Commemoration Commission and the 2019 Commemoration/ American Evolution, and on the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Board of Trustees. Chief Adkins served on the Charles City School Board for over 20 years. He has served as Principal Chief of the Chickahominy Indian Tribe since 2001. He is a member emeritus of the board of trustees of Bacone College and serves on the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commission. Chief Adkins is a Deacon and Sunday school teacher at Samaria Baptist Church and a former moderator of Dover Baptist Association, which is an association of 65 churches.
David D. Huff graduated from Georgia Tech in 1964 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He moved to Chesterfield County shortly afterwards and started his career at DuPont in the film department. David retired from DuPont in 2003 after over 38 years of service. Over his long tenure, he served in a variety of different assignments in manufacturing, planning, and human resources.
David has been married 60 years and has a son, daughter-in-law, and 3 grandchildren all of whom are members of Argent Credit Union. David is a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church where he is Assistant Treasurer and moderator of the finance committee. He’s been a member of three different credit unions spanning over 60 years and strongly believes in the tremendous value credit unions bring to the communities they serve. David has served as a Director on Argent’s Board since 2004 and looks forward to serving another term.
Ronald “Ron” Tatum was born and raised in Fieldale, Va. where he lettered in four varsity sports, ultimately receiving a football scholarship to Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. Ron and his wife, Cathy have been married for 54 years and are very proud of their three children, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Ron retired after 29 years of service from E. I. DuPont’s Richmond Spruance plant in the role of Site Leadership Development Manager. In this assignment, Ron had responsibility for the training, coaching, and mentoring of approximately 180 managers. Over the years, Ron worked in many divisions of Dupont including the Nylon, Nomex, Teflon, Tyvek, and Kevlar divisions at the Spruance plant. He held various positions such as Operator, First Line Manager, Area HR Manager, and Area Training Manager. In addition to his experience with training and mentoring other managers, Ron has a wealth of experience leading safety, environmental, and ergonomic teams.
Beyond work, Ron has been a major contributor and is active in his local community. He currently serves as a Director of the Board of Argent Credit Union and previously served as an Associate Director. He has served as past president of the Richmond Chapter of the Association of Quality and Participation – AQP; a resident of the Westover South Civic Association; and as lineman coach for the Huguenot High School football team. Ron attends Gravel Hill Baptist Church in South Richmond.
In his spare time, Ron collects and restores antique automobiles and serves as a facilitator with The Richmond Metropolitan Antique Car Club. He is also a founder of the Richmond Rodder Group.
How to Run for a Board Position
The Argent Federal Credit Union Bylaws state that any member wishing to run for a Board position may do so by submitting to the Secretary of the Board of Directors for Argent Credit Union a petition signed by one percent of the membership (as of 12/31/24, 1.0% of membership equals 351).
Said petition must provide a brief biographical sketch of the person running for a Board position. You must also include the signatures of members and their addresses as well as the members’ names in clear print.
NAMES AND ADDRESSES MUST BE LEGIBLE AND VERIFIABLE FOR AUDIT PURPOSES.
Upon completion, the petition must be received by the Secretary of the Board of Directors in care of:

The petition must be received no later than Wednesday, March 19, 2025, to be included on the 2025 ballot.
